Baltimore Mayor Pugh Launches Plan To Employ Baltimore ‘Squeegee Boys’ At ‘Pop Up’ Car Wash

Mayor Catherine Pugh this week launched a “pop up” car wash program for Baltimore youth.

The mayor announced in June she planned to create a program to employ what she calls the “Squeegee boys” — the Baltimore youths who seeks tips for washing motorists’ windshields on city streets.

Pugh said the boys show an entrepreneurial spirit, and the city could help them open their own car wash.

“The Squeegee Corps is up and running their first pop up car wash right here in front of City Hall!” Pugh wrote on Facebook Thursday.

Alexandra Smith, Pugh’s director of special projects, wrote on social media that residents should expect to see more “pop up” car washes throughout the city. She said one was planned soon for Bush Street near Carroll Park.

Prices for the services range from $5 to $15.

 Yet a 10-year old girl puts a card table on the corner and opens a lemonade stand and gets ticketed for not having a license. Street people wiping off windshields at traffic lights have been a hallmark of third world shithole countries for as long as there have been cars. Sounds like the jobs the democrats create. This idea is full with possibilities...none of them good. The real entrepreneurial spirit will kick in when one or more of these utes discover this program is an excellent cover for street drug sales. Drive thru crack sales. Great. And how convenient, car jacking with city approval. Prices for the services range from $5 to $15. $20 if you want your car back. Wonderful. The unintended consequences for this one are going to be amazing to watch. I can already think of half a dozen ways this ends terribly. But I'm white, Middle Class and conservative, so what the hell do I know? And where are the feminists crying that this is sexist because there are no "Squeegee Girls"? Guess the answer is the girls can't carry your tires away fast enough.
