Romney Wins Big in First Debate

Halfway through, they should have stopped the fight.

Gov. Mitt Romney eviscerated a staggering and bewildered President Barack Obama tonight in one of the most lopsided presidential debates in American history. Throughout the debate, which focused on domestic policy, Obama looked shaken, rarely looking at the camera, reciting old talking points and filibustering as Romney gave a master class at the University of Denver.
The debate had been described as a must-win for Romney--and he delivered.

The First Presidential Debate: FULL VIDEO

Ladies and Gentlemen, what you are about to see may shock you. Contrary to everything you’ve heard from the media, Governor Mitt Romney is a more articulate, intelligent and compassionate person than President Obama.

Chris Matthews Feels Warm Tingle Running Down His Leg

No amount of spin can save Obama after tonight and even Chris Matthews of MSNBC knows it.

He's lost his tingle... and I love the line... "What was Romney doing? He was winning!"
Wasn't it great to see these hacks cry.

Occupy Denver Dwindling, Can't Fill Intersection on Debate Night

Occupy Denver was never one of the key satellites of now comatose anti-capitalist movement.

Still, the Denver contingent hung around the city's downtown area for several months, forcing the local government to pass a special new law to deal with its "occupation."
Tonight, with President Barack Obama and GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney in town, the Occupy Denver forces couldn't rally enough troops to fill a street intersection near the debate center.
The gaggle pulled out the standard Occupy tics in the middle of the blocked off intersection, from angry placards to drums and singing. One sign said, "Property is Theft," and a few Occupy members carried placards for Jill Stein, the Green Party presidential candidate.
Police stood at the ready nearby, but when this reporter watched the group move on from the intersection of University Blvd. and Evans Avenue next to the University of Denver campus, the movement's oft-violent nature wasn't on display.

**Debate Live-Blog** Watchdogging Tonight's Media Bias

Tonight, the city of Denver hosts the first presidential debate between President Barack Obama and Governor Mitt Romney. But as any of us who pay attention know, the debate itself won't matter anywhere near as much as what the corrupt media does afterward to ensure Obama is crowned the winner.

The media's already lost round one -- the pre-debate expectations game. They overplayed the Romney-Can-Do-Nothing-Right narrative to a point where everyone expects him to get his clock cleaned tonight. This means that should Romney have a good showing, the media must find something to pick away at to declare him a walking catastrophe.
But that's what New Media is for, and that's what this live blog is for. Before, during, and after the debate, myself and other members of the Breitbart News staff will be keeping an eye on everything the corrupt media pulls and documenting it here.

TheDC’s Jamie Weinstein: The state of the race — advantage Romney

For weeks leading up to the first presidential debate in Denver, many in the liberal commentariat wanted to pretend that the presidential race was all but over and President Barack Obama was cruising to victory.
Liberal New York Times columnist Charles Blow, for example, wrote in a recent column, ”No one can predict the result on Election Day — overconfidence could devolve into complacency among Democrats — but, at this point, it’s hard to see a path to victory for Romney.”
This was always dumb analysis, but after Wednesday night’s debate, it’s so dumb that even the most ardent liberal media backers of President Obama can no longer believe it.

Obama surrogates can’t quite spin a win after Denver presidential debate

President Barack Obama and Republican presidential candidate and former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney talk at the end of the first presidential debate in Denver, Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012.

Mitt Romney emerged as the decisive winner of the first presidential debate with President Barack Obama on Wednesday night, a reality even the president’s surrogates were unable to spin.
No defining moments emerged from the debate, which lasted 90 minutes. The zingers from both sides were underwhelming. During the evening, the two candidates mainly wonked out and discussed their differences on everything from Medicare to taxes to deficit reduction.
But style, more than substance, led to Romney’s clear advantage.

Even David Axelrod Can’t Spin Obama’s Debate Performance Tonight

Even the grand spin-meister can’t explain away Obama’s weak performance.
