Romney Wins Second Debate, Liberals Can Call It A Draw If It Makes Them Feel Better

Obama showed up for the second presidential debate but that’s all he did.

Mitt Romney was just as aggressive if not more so than in Denver.

The only way Obama could win the debate tonight was if he destroyed Mitt Romney. He failed to do so and therefore Mitt Romney won. Don’t get me wrong, Mitt Romney held his own and made a compelling case for his candidacy on jobs, the economy, foreign policy and much more. But Obama failed to land a serious punch so Romney won.

I’m not going to go into a long point by point analysis of the entire 90 minutes because it isn’t necessary. Mitt Romney held his own just fine and called out Obama on every lie he told during the debate, MSM moderator permitting.

Obama sounded like Elizabeth Warren demonizing wealth and opportunity. Obama also had no clear answers on what happened in Libya. Luckily, the third and final presidential debate is going to focus on foreign policy.

Liberals can call this a draw if it makes them feel better but nothing Obama did or said tonight is going to move the needle. He still hasn’t answered the questions about Libya. No one has forgotten his record on spending and jobs.

The man has an indefensible record, as explained perfectly by Mitt Romney:

Romney's Secret Blowout

While the left cheers President Obama’s second debate performance with the excitement of Chris Matthews on a prom date with The One, the fact remains that this was not just a bad debate for President Obama. It was a disastrous debate for President Obama. He may have achieved firing up the base, but the base had already been fired up by Vice President Joe Biden’s bizarre performance in the vice presidential debate. He may have achieved not looking comatose, but instead he looked angry and puerile.

Actually, Obama lost in three major ways.

CNN Poll: Romney Buries Obama On Economy

Like the CBS poll, Obama won the overall debate, 46-39%, but Romney beat him senseless on all the important individual issues like the economy, health care, deficit, and taxes.

Unlike the CBS poll, CNN polled registered voters, not just undecideds.
Economy: Romney wins 58-40%
Health care: Romney wins 49-46%.
Taxes: Romney wins 51-44%.
Deficit: Romney wins 49-36%.
Strong leader: Romney wins 49-46%.
The worst news is that 25% of voters switched their vote to Romney and 25% wen to Obama.
In other words, Obama didn't move the ball, which is what he needed to do.

CBS Post-Debate Poll: Romney Wallops Obama On Economy 65-34%

CBS News did a post-debate poll that showed Obama winning the overall debate 37-30% among uncommitted voters, but in the most important area -- the economy -- Romney massacred the president by over 30 points, 65-34%.

Among undecided voters, the economy is the only question that matters; it's a question that matters a whole lot more than who won the debate.
Moreover, if all Obama could muster was 37%, he didn't even capture his base.

Romney Presses Obama on Fast and Furious in Town Hall Debate

When Obama was asked what his administration has "done or plans to do to limit the availability of assault weapons," Obama spoke of re-implementing the assault weapons ban, of "doing a much better job in terms of background checks," and of getting weapons that were made for soldiers off the streets.

Gov. Romney then seized the moment:
The greatest failure... with regards to gun violence... is what is known as Fast and Furious. Which was a program under this administration... where thousands of automatic and AK-47 type weapons were given to people who ultimately gave them to drug lords [in Mexico]. They then used those weapons against their own citizens and killed Americans with them.
An astonished Romney added: "This was a program of the government. For what purpose it was put in place, I can't imagine. But it's one of the great tragedies related to violence in our society which has occurred during this administration."

Obama cites Benghazi phone call with national security team — but no meeting

On Tuesday night, President Barack Obama said he called up his national security team by phone while the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi was being attacked, but did not say that he held a meeting before he flew to a fundraiser in Las Vegas.
“As soon as we found out that the Benghazi consulate was being overrun, I was on the phone with my national security team and I gave them three instructions,” Obama told a questioner during the town hall debate in Hofstra University.
The president’s mention of a phone call — not a formal meeting in the White House — with his national security team may fuel Republican accusations that the president is more focused on his re-election campaign than national security.

Crowley Says Mitt Was Right On Libya -

She must have gone back and read the Rose Garden speech.
Obama calls the ORIGINAL  9/11 attack an act of terrorism. He calls Libya a terrible act.

Look here Candy:

Crowley's False Fact Check Saves President, Derails Debate - UPDATE: Crowley Backtracks

We're done with the second presidential debate, but it was apparent 45 minutes in that between the questions Crowley chose and her handling of who was allowed to speak and when, that this debate was a total and complete setup to rehabilitate Barack Obama.
If these are truly undecided voters, they're apparently undecided between Obama and the Green Party. Moreover, as I write this, Obama's already enjoyed four more minutes of speaking time than Romney. In a ninety-minute debate, that's a big deal.
The lowest and most dishonest part of Crowley's disgraceful "moderation" was when she actually jumped into the debate to take Obama's side when the issue of Benghazi came up. To cover for his and his administration's lying for almost two weeks about the attack coming as the result of a spontaneous protest over a YouTube video, Obama attempted to use as cover the claim that he had called the attack a "terrorist attack" on that very first day during his Rose Garden statement.
Romney correctly disputed that.
Crowley, quite incorrectly, took Obama's side and the crowd exploded.
Here's what Obama said that day:
No acts of terror will ever shake the resolve of this great nation, alter that character or eclipse the light of the values that we stand for.
Context matters and the context here is that Obama connected this "act of terror" to … a mob action over a YouTube video -- not a deliberate terrorist attack. Obama was using the term generically and it would be almost two weeks before he used it again.
Let's not forget that Susan Rice said declaratively on the five Sunday shows four days later that it was NOT an act of terror.
And during those two weeks the Obama administration lied like a rug. For Crowley to step in and attempt to correct Romney on a statement that is at best arguable, was completely out of line. The debate over this debate has only begun.
***UPDATE: After the debate, Anderson Cooper was the first member of the CNN post debate group to question whether or not Romney really got the Libya issue wrong. They then brought Crowley on and after all the damage she had done during the debate, she finally admitted that Romney was "right" but "picked the wrong word."
Romney "picked the wrong word!" And for that sin the the referee ran onto the field and tackled the other guy!
This is a scandal; a total and complete media scandal committed by a woman who promised to violate her contract and to insert herself into the debate. All she did for weeks was brag about how she intended to grab the spotlight -- and boy did she ever.
Absolutely disgraceful.

Obama touts fair pay for women, despite records showing women paid less in his own White House

At Tuesday’s Hofstra University presidential debate, President Barack Obama and Republican nominee Mitt Romney duked it out over pay equity for women, just as they have fought over female votes in the national polls.

While Obama made the empathetic case for his single mother and his belief in equal pay — pointing out that the first bill he signed as president was the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act — he did not address reports this year that demonstrated that his own White House pays women less than men.

Wasserman Schultz’s ‘Mile-High’ Campaign Dilemma

Questions regarding possible campaign finance violations continue to plague Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz as her Federal Elections Commission (FEC) reports are coming under increased scrutiny. Just last month, the Shark Tank pointed out that Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz had violated FEC laws when she failed to affix the proper disclaimer to one of her campaign solicitations. (Source-FEC Violations)
But now her campaign appears to have committed another possible FEC violation with regards to her campaign’s travel expenses and a leased private jet from a charter airplane company, New Flight Charters, which is based out of Jackson, Wyoming.
First off, why would any Member of Congress or candidate have to use a private charter company for purposes of campaigning with a congressional district given how small most districts are in terms of square miles?
We’ll go out on a limb here and guess that Congresswoman Wasserman Schultz probably used the charter aircraft for fundraising outside of Florida or some other kind of ‘special’ event.  Also, the chartering of the aircraft could have been considered an ‘in-kind’ contribution, but if that was the case, the item would have been itemized as an ‘in-kind’ donation.
Wasserman Schultz’s campaign disclosed two payments to New Flight Charters, one on 4/24/2012 for $5000, and the other on 4/25/2012 for $4438. That’s $9438 for those of you in Rio Linda, California.

Obama’s Media Allies Struggle to Conceal Red Mentor (MUST READ)

A liberal writer named Elspeth Reeve, who writes for The Atlantic magazine, frets that Barack Obama’s relationship to Communist Party member Frank Marshall Davis is getting more attention from voters and may constitute an “October surprise” that dooms the President’s re-election chances. She calls Davis only an “alleged communist” when in fact he was a card-carrying CPUSA member with a 600-page FBI file.
Her story goes further downhill from there, clearly suggesting that Obama’s media backers are worried and desperate to conceal the truth.

MSNBC Pundit: EVERYONE IS GONNA DIE IF ROMNEY WINS THE ELECTION!

I gotta hand it to Jonathan Alter and Chris Matthews, this is some of the best fearmongering I’ve heard in a while. Not only will everyone die if Romney wins, but Obama’s historic reputation will be tarnished if he does poorly in this debate.

Watch:

These guys are hilarious when they freak out. I think Alter’s had a little too many bath salts today.
