President Obama in Michigan Wednesday mocked his GOP rivals for their stance on the minimum wage, saying their message amounted to, “Get off my lawn.”
Obama, traveling to the Wolverine State to push Congress to raise the minimum wage, said conservatives dismissed the proposal because they believed it helped only young people.
“Next think you know, they’ll say: ‘Get off my lawn,” Obama said, poking fun at his opponents during a speech at the University of Michigan.
“You would think this would be a no-brainer,” the president added. “Here’s the problem: Republicans in Congress don’t want to vote to raise it all. In fact, some just want to scrap the minimum wage.”
