Rep. Rosa DeLauro Proposes Taxing People For Drinking Soda
Via CNS News:
Rep. Rosa DeLauro (D-Conn.) says she’s getting ready to propose a federal soda tax, “I am working on legislation right now to tax sugar-sweetened drinks, like sodas, in a way that reflects the serious damage they are doing to our health.”
DeLauro made the recorded comments for the Center For Science In The Public Interest “National Soda Summit” on June 5th.
“When a two-liter cola is 99 cents and blueberries are over three dollars, something has gone very wrong,” DeLauro says.
“It is long past time that we pass and support policies that work to our better health instead. With that in mind I’m working on legislation right now to tax sugar-sweetened drinks, like sodas, in a way that reflects the serious damage they are doing to our health.”
I've seen better dressed homeless people in the park.
"How about we tax the ugly, she'd be the biggest contributor. She should be taxed for looking like a gargoyle. How about taxing people for scaring children? If the homeless people in the park see Rosa DeLauro they would give her quarters out of pity. We elect these politicians to do the people's business, not give people the business. We have a war going on, thousands of illegal children over running the Mexican border, fuel prices at record levels more and more people not working and collecting welfare, and all this troll cares about is messing with people's food and drinks. “When a two-liter cola is 99 cents and blueberries are over three dollars, something has gone very wrong,” DeLauro says. And what the hell do blueberries and bottles of soda have to do with each other? Usually when comparing the prices of two things, it's customary that they be items that can be substituted for one another. For instance, comparing the price of the finest quality of beef Mooch eats to the hamburger most Americans are lucky to be able to afford now would be a better example.
If that's what eating healthy gets you, I'll have donuts!!
Oh yes, I'm sure raising the price on sodas will bring down the cost of blueberries. And what will
