Unfortunately, there are some people in Israel and in Palestine and in the Arab World and around the world that don’t support the peace process.”
“Israel needs to understand we will always stand by its security needs,” he continued. “But no one should distort what we’re doing or saying because they’re opposed to the peace process or don’t like two states or whatever. And, you know, words — I have to tell you, my friend, I’ve been, quote, attacked before by people using real bullets, not words, and I am not going to be intimidated. I am not going to stand down with respect to President Obama’s commitment to trying to find peace in the Middle East.”

“When [Republicans] say … they don’t trust the president to do it, why don’t we just pack up and go home?” she said. “We have a Democratic system. We have checks and balances. We have three branches of government. In fact, we’re the first in the Constitution — the legislative branch. And what we’re supposed to do is legislate, and not make up excuses as to why we don’t.”
“That’s not a reason not to do an immigration bill, that’s an excuse not to do it,” she added. “And around here, you have to always differentiate between what is a reason and what is an excuse.”

 School Apologizes For Serving Fried Chicken, Watermelon At Lunch On Black History Month.

Officials at a Northern California private school are apologizing after a controversial lunch menu option to celebrate Black History Month.
Students at Carondelet High School for Girls in Concord wanted to come up with ways to observe the occasion during a lunchtime celebration Friday. But when the school announced a menu of fried chicken, cornbread and watermelon, other students and parents became offended.
KNTV-TV reports that school officials held an assembly on campus Wednesday to discuss the issue and also sent a letter apologizing to parents. Principal Nancy Libby wrote that the items were taken off of the menu and that the school doesn’t perpetrate racial stereotypes.
Libby also wrote the school will hold a diversity assembly for students and faculty.
Calls to the school were not immediately returned Thursday.

'Il Silenzio' - Melissa Venema (13 yo)

About six miles from Maastricht, in the Netherlands, lie buried 8,301 American soldiers who died in "Operation Market Garden" in the battles to liberate Holland in the fall and winter of 1944-5.

Every one of the men buried in the cemetery, as well as those in the Canadian and British military cemeteries, has been adopted by a Dutch family who mind the grave, decorate it, and keep alive the memory of the soldier they have adopted.

It is even the custom to keep a portrait of "their" American soldier in a place of honor in their home. Annually, on "Liberation Day," memorial services are held for "the men who died to liberate Holland." The day concludes with a concert.

The final piece is always "Il Silenzio," a memorial piece commissioned by the Dutch and first played in 1965 on the 20th anniversary of Holland's liberation. It has been the concluding piece of the memorial concert ever since.

This year the soloist was a 13-year-old Dutch girl, Melissa Venema, backed by André Rieu and his orchestra (the Royal Orchestra of the Netherlands). This concert piece is based upon the original version of taps and was composed by Italian composer Nino Rossi.

 Melissa plays like an angel — a very skilled one, too.

In this unique performance, the sound of the trumpet evokes harmony and heavenly peace. What a majestic interpretation! Il Silenzio' is an Italian instrumental piece written in 1965 by trumpet player Nini Rosso. Conductor André Rieu (born 1949) is a famous Dutch violinist, conductor, and composer.

BUT  -as trouble seems to always find him- on each run he happened to jog past a hooker standing on the same street corner, day after day. With some apprehension he would brace himself as he approached her for what was most certainly to follow:

"Fifty dollars!" she would cry out from the curb.

"No, five dollars!" fired back Clinton . This ritual between Bill and the hooker continued for days. He'd run by and she'd yell, "Fifty dollars!"
And he'd yell back, "Five dollars!"

One day however, Hillary decided that she wanted to accompany her husband on his jog.

As the jogging couple neared the problematic street corner, Bill realized the 'pro' would bark her $50 offer and Hillary would wonder what he'd really been doing on all his past outings.

He knew he better have a darn good explanation for the former Secretary of State. As they jogged into the turn that would take them past the corner, Bill became even more apprehensive than usual.
