A Chicago Tribune columnist bared her true feelings about America in a Thursday piece about Colin Kaepernick, the National Football League star who stirred strong feelings last year when he knelt for the national anthem to protest police brutality toward African-Americans.Asking why Kaepernick cannot find a new spot in the NFL Diana Goetsch asked, “What’s worse in the eyes of the NFL — players beating women or kneeling for the national anthem? Answer: kneeling.”“‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ is a pompous battle number,” Goetsch went on to say, although admitting that it had the signatures of 5 million Americans when it was approved as the national anthem in 1930.
