New York Times Editors Bitch About Layoffs

Using words including “betrayal,” “humiliating” and “covfefe” and suggesting that management had compared them to “dogs urinating on fire hydrants,” copy editors at the New York Times today let executive editor Dean Baquet and his heir apparent, Joseph Kahn, know exactly how they feel about taking the brunt of layoffs and buyouts as the Times expands its reporting ranks. 

In a letter addressed to the two top editors and written under the letterhead of the NewsGuild’s NYT unit, they also included a plea for reconsideration of the plan to eliminate some 100 editors from their ranks.

Part of the letter:

Dear Dean and Joe,

We have begun the humiliating process of justifying our continued presence at The New York Times. We take some solace in the fact that we have been assured repeatedly that copy editors are highly respected here.

If that is true, we have a simple request. Cutting us down to 50 to 55 editors from more than 100, and expecting the same level of quality in the report, is dumbfoundingly unrealistic. Work with us on a new number.

But after living more than a year and a half under a cloud of uncertainty about our jobs, a cruelly drawn-out period in which we suspended major financial arrangements and life decisions, and carried an ever-growing kernel of fear;.....

It’s only a matter of time until the NYT building is turned into another Trump Hotel. Let's be honest, there are no journalists, reporters or editors at the NYT. If there were, explain how it's possible to repeat a lie they made and already figured out was a baseless statement about Sarah Palin? Or, how could they report “Wiretapped Data Used In Inquiry of Trump Aids” instead of reporting that Obama used the government to spy on his political opponents like Nixon in Watergate? Or why do they protect their anonymous sources if they later claimed it was fake news? They’re a propaganda arm of the DNC. Nothing more. They claim they are “…news-gathering…”? Sorry, but we have been on to your bullshit for a while now.

Truth is the "Gray Lady" has been turned into an old whore by the people that run her and more importantly, by the people who own the people who run her. If you clowns in the news business weren’t so busy expending needless man-hours on “fake news” then maybe, just maybe, those reduced ranks of 55 or so copy editors might actually be enough to edit the “real news”. When you choose moving the marxist DNC ball down the field over truth, then revenues fall and layoffs follow. The NYT along with the entire MSM are now crying about how unfair they are being treated, but you have no one to blame but yourself for destroying all your credibility. And now you expect us to feel sorry for you. I need a tissue, I think I am going to cry.....
