SC Wants To Require Some Food Stamp Recipients To Prove They’re Looking For jobs

After a public flirtation with requiring food stamps be used only to buy healthier foods, Gov. Nikki Haley’s administration has decided to take a different course and require more food-stamp recipients find a job.
The S.C. Department of Social Services said Friday it will seek a federal waiver for a pilot project that would require many food-stamp recipients in Bamberg, Calhoun and Orangeburg counties to prove they either have jobs or are looking for employment.
In its announcement of the proposed “SNAP Work 2 Health” waiver, Social Services cited an Ohio State University study that found Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program recipients gained more weight the longer they received food stamps.
"How dare we tell the people that we are supporting to get off their asses and at least try to get a job? Trust me, that's racist! Somehow, some way, that is racism. This actually should be a national requirement. I am sick and tired of all of the "Welfare Babies" who have nothing
physically or mentally wrong with them, being able to sit on their lazy asses all day and get more money from the government than most people who are working a full-time job. If a judge ruled recently that a parent doesn't have to support an 18 year old daughter, then why do we have to support able bodied welfare slugs when we're not even related to them? And Assistance Program recipients "gained more weight the longer they received food stamps". Really? Well, fat lazy people eat fat lazy people food. I know, let's put these ebt grabbers on their idol Mooch's "Let's Move" diet. I'll bet they get off their fat asses and find a job right quick." MC
