Back in January 2009, Barack Obama told Americans that,
“Everyone must sacrifice… Everyone must have some skin in the game.”


Well… Everyone but Barack and Michelle Obama.
While Americans suffer through the worst economy since the Great Depression, the Obama family will enjoy a 17 day vacation in Hawaii this year.

 
 So I guess if I were trying to get a break from all the hard work of running a country, I would pick a vacation to Hawaii. And it would make it all that much sweeter if that vacation was all-expenses paid. And right around the time Congress is making the tough decisions, choosing between raising taxes on the upper middle class, small businesses, and the wealthy, risking the future of the American economy, or cutting government spending and risking the future of their own employment.
So I’m sure America will understand when Barack Obama spends $4 million of their hard earned dollars to relax for a couple of weeks on the sandy shores of Oahu.
I mean, obviously.

Residents living near the beachfront homes where President Barack Obama and First Family vacation with their friends every year since 2008 were alerted on Monday to some specifics of the Obamas’ holiday vacation plans.
The report delivered to residents living along the ocean and canal that surrounds the multi-million dollar homes at Kailuana Place where the President stays, informed  them of restrictions that will be implemented for 20 days beginning December 17 and running through January 6.
In a matter of weeks, Kailua residents will see the familiar street barricades fronted by U.S. Secret Service agents and Navy Seals and the U.S. Coast Guard stationed in canal and ocean waters.

The tab for the 20-day early winter vacation includes a fleet of 22 secret service vehicles, round trip airfare on Air Force One for the whole family, cargo aircraft and a number of limousines to transport the President and the family while they’re in Hawaii, advance work for the Secret Service, the rental costs for a week of posh Hawaii digs, rooms for the White House staff and press corps at the Moana Surfrider hotel (which averages around $200 per night, and offers private beach front access on Waikiki), local police and EMT presence, and other upgrades and management costs.

And of course, if previous experience is any indication, there will also be some associated vacation wardrobe costs. And, there’s always the public relations cost of going on a m*****f***ing 20-day Hawaiian vacation while around half of Americans will consider their “vacation” this year to be the two days they get to spend cleaning their house while the dog is at the vet getting neutered.

But they’ve earned it, America. They’ve earned it.

Rep. Hank Johnson (D-Ga.) says, “corporations control the patterns of thinking” in the United States and that the Bill of Rights to the Constitution should be amended so that the government is given the power to restrict freedom of speech.

"We need a constitutional amendment to allow the legislature to control the so-called free speech rights of corporations," said Johnson... “They control the patterns of thinking ... They control the media. They control the messages that you get. So, you are being taught to hate your government--don’t want government, but keep your hands off of my Medicare by the way. I mean, we are all confused people and we’re poking fingers at each other saying, well you’re black, you’re Hispanic, immigration, homosexuals. You know, we’re lost on the social issues, abortion, contraception.

“And these folks," Johnson said, "are setting up a scenario where they’re privatizing every aspect of our lives as we know it. So, wake up! Wake up! Let’s look at what’s happening. We need a constitutional amendment to allow the legislature to control the so-called free speech rights of corporations.”

The modern Left is as far from classical liberalism as one could imagine.

These men are Statists: interested only in centralizing ever more power and in consolidating that power with fewer and fewer masterminds in Washington. These are the kind of men that our country's founders despised and feared.

They are would-be despots who worship unlimited government, who respect neither checks nor balances, and blatantly violate the Constitution at every opportunity.

I wonder what America's breaking point will be? By that I mean, when will have the circle of liberty constricted around the average American's throat sufficiently to waken the sleeping giant?

Krauthammer's Take: Geithner Deal 'Insulting,' GOP Should Walk Away

Republicans on Thursday rejected the White House’s “offer” of $1.6 trillion in higher taxes over a decade and an immediate infusion of cash. In an attempt to appease Republicans, President Barack Obama offered what Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell called “vague” spending cuts that do not adequately address the nation’s financial woes.
Appearing on Fox News Thursday, Syndicated columnist Charles Krauthammer called the deal “insulting” and advised Republicans to “simply walk away” from the negotiating table.
“It’s not just a bad deal, this is really an insulting deal. What Geithner offered, what you showed on the screen, Robert E. Lee was offered easier terms at Appomattox, and he lost the Civil War,” Krauthammer said. “The Democrats won by 3 percent of the vote and they did not hold the House, Republicans won the house. So this is not exactly unconditional surrender, but that is what the administration is asking of the Republicans.”
He continued: “This idea — there are not only no cuts in this, there’s an increase in spending with a new stimulus. I mean, this is almost unheard of. What do they expect? They obviously expect the Republicans will cave on everything. I think the Republicans ought to simply walk away. The president is the president. He’s the leader. They are demanding that the Republicans explain all the cuts that they want to make.”

Krauthammer pointed out that Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) presented a “serious real budget with real cuts” more than a year ago and Obama not only rejected it, he called it “un-American” in a speech with Ryan sitting in the front row. Further, Obama has offered no counter measures on Medicare and real spending cuts, he explained.
“And they expect the Republicans are going to do this again?” Krauthammer asked. “The Republicans are going to walk on this. And I think they have leverage…He’s going to have a recession, 9 percent unemployment, 2 million more unemployed, and a second term that’s going to be a ruin. That is not a good proposition if you are Barack Obama.”

HEY, DEMOCRATS: I'll listen to Warren Buffett's tax hike ideas when he decides to PAY HIS OWN DAMN TAXES

Warren Buffett's marketing efforts for Barack Obama's class warfare campaign is despicable on two fronts. First, it does nothing to address the country's catastrophic deficit problem:

A search at the Associated Press’s national website on Warren Buffett’s last name at about 5 p.m. ET returned two recent items which are still present there. Each item (here and here) mentions the Obama Fan of Omaha’s idea to “impose a minimum tax of 30 percent on income between $1 million and $10 million, and a 35 percent rate for income above that.” Neither mentions the pathetically small amount such a tax would raise while seriously impacting the ability of high income earners who own or run businesses to expand them — or in some cases causing them to shrink.

It’s the same at other establishment press outlets. Two recent New York Times items found in a search on Buffett’s full name (here and here, the latter item being Buffett’s own op-ed on Sunday) fail to note how little money Buffett’s proposed tax hikes would raise. So how little is “little”?

Buffett hasn’t been entirely consistent in his expressed suggestion. Earlier this year, he wanted a rate of 30%, while his recent Times op-ed suggests 35% for those earning over $10 million. James Pethokoukis estimated in April that the amount which would be raised would be about $5 billion — “although experience suggests that it won’t raise even that much.” The government currently spends $5 billion about every 12 hours, and runs an $5 billion deficit in less than two days.

You read that right: even if the truly wealthy didn't find ways to get their money out of the U.S. or otherwise evade these taxes, the amount raised by Buffett's brilliant plan wouldn't pay for two days of this massive, bloated federal government's deficit spending.

It also turns out that Buffett is hardly a model citizen when it comes to paying his own taxes:

Over and over again, we hear how good ole Warren “wants” to pay more taxes and thinks his wealthy buddies ought to follow suit. “We aren’t taxed enough,” he says. There are two recent cases where Warren has done everything possible to AVOID paying taxes that he actually owes. The first case involved a 14-year fight over the dividend-received deduction that was finally settled with the IRS in 2005. The second case is still pending after 10 years in which he owes just over $1 BILLION in back taxes. Both of these cases are well-documented and you can satisfy yourself simply by using Google to inquire as to the voracity of these assertions. Also note the timeframes of 14-years and 10+-years; not exactly a haphazard hissy fit. While you’re at it, you might also ask yourself “why” Warren says one thing in public discourse while he practices the exact opposite in his business and personal life. Is not that the definition of hypocrite?

...Buffett is now at the center of another tax controversy, according to The Wall Street Journal. His recent decision to invest in Bank of America “represents another tax-avoidance triumph for the Berkshire chief executive,” the Journal wrote in an editorial ... “With the exclusion for Mr. Buffett and his fellow shareholders, Berkshire will enjoy an effective tax rate of 14.175% on the $300 million in dividends it will receive each year from Bank of America,” the Journal reported. [Remember, his secretary pays a higher tax rate?].

Look up "crony capitalist" in the dictionary and I'll bet you see a lithograph of Warren Buffett staring back at you.

A leading medical journal in Great Britain revealed the gruesome practice of starving and withdrawing fluid from sickly babies as well as terminally-ill adults.
The Daily Mail reported:

Sick children are being discharged from NHS hospitals to die at home or in hospices on controversial ‘death pathways’.
Until now, end of life regime the Liverpool Care Pathway was thought to have involved only elderly and terminally-ill adults.
But the Mail can reveal the practice of withdrawing food and fluid by tube is being used on young patients as well as severely disabled newborn babies.
One doctor has admitted starving and dehydrating ten babies to death in the neonatal unit of one hospital alone.
Writing in a leading medical journal, the physician revealed the process can take an average of ten days during which a baby becomes ‘smaller and shrunken’.
The LCP – on which 130,000 elderly and terminally-ill adult patients die each year – is now the subject of an independent inquiry ordered by ministers.
The use of end of life care methods on disabled newborn babies was revealed in the doctors’ bible, the British Medical Journal.
Earlier this month, an un-named doctor wrote of the agony of watching the protracted deaths of babies. The doctor described one case of a baby born with ‘a lengthy list of unexpected congenital anomalies’, whose parents agreed to put it on the pathway.
The doctor wrote: ‘They wish for their child to die quickly once the feeding and fluids are stopped. They wish for pneumonia. They wish for no suffering. They wish for no visible changes to their precious baby.
‘Their wishes, however, are not consistent with my experience. Survival is often much longer than most physicians think; reflecting on my previous patients, the median time from withdrawal of hydration to death was ten days.
‘Parents and care teams are unprepared for the sometimes severe changes that they will witness in the child’s physical appearance as severe dehydration ensues.

Official: Team Obama to Regulate Junk Food Industry

White House official Larry Summers suggested that Team Obama will eventually tax and regulate junk food in the second term.
The Washington Examiner reported:

Larry Summers, chair of the White House National Economic Council when the 2009 stimulus was developed, suggested that President Obama will eventually tax and regulate junk food to drive people to eat more healthily — although he dinged First Lady Michelle Obama’s healthy foods initiative.
“I think there is no question that the way Americans eat and what Americans weigh is a big contributor to health problems and it’s a big contributor to health costs,” Summers said on Morning Joe today.It’s not the agenda now, but I think at some point you’re going to see tax measures and regulatory measures that are going to be directed at helping people be healthier. That’s just going to happen and I think it’s probably a good thing when it does.”
Summers this agenda to anti-cigarette policies. “[J]ust as we have over time done things with respect to tobacco that are very constructive and that are saving hundreds of thousands of people’s lives, that kind of agenda is going to come to other aspects of public health, including the way people eat,” he said.
Curiously, though, Summers took an oblique shot at the results of Mrs. Obama’s overhaul of the school lunch menu as part of her effort to fight child obesity.
“Should kids be going hungry at lunch because they can’t have any good food — any food they like in the schools?” he asked rhetorically. “You can obviously take it too far and you have to be careful.”

Sorry, college students. President Obama has cut your access to Pell Grants by 33%; he just forgot to mention it before Election Day.
During the recent campaign, President Obama claimed credit for increasing funding to the Pell Grant program, which provides college funds, free from repayment, to millions of students. However, an email sent out Tuesday to some Dallas college students is revealing a detail the President forgot to mention: the time a student can receive a Pell Grant has been cut, by as much as three years. With Pell Grants for the fall semester now dispersed, colleges are informing students of their options, bringing the cuts to light.
The email, sent out by the Dallas County Community College District, informed students of the changes to the Pell Grant program. It revealed that the number of semesters a student could receive a Pell Grant had been cut from 18 semesters down to 12. It is a detail likely unknown to most students; in fact, the cut in grants has gone largely unreported by the media.

Middle school teacher suspended after playing rap song in support of same-sex marriage for her eighth grade class

A Detroit-area performing arts teacher has been suspended without pay last week for playing a song about being gay during class.

According to middle school teacher Susan Johnson, the principal and assistant superintendent delivered the news to her after a student complained.
Johnson said she allowed the song Same Love by the Seattle-based underground rapper Macklemore to be played during her eighth-grade class at Centennial Middle School in South Lyon at the request of a student.
Afterwards, however, another student went to the principal and complained about the song. Johnson was later informed that she would be suspended for three days, and she wouldn’t be paid for two.
‘I don’t think that it was really even thought through,’ she told MyFox Detroit. ‘I was paralyzed. I really didn’t understand why I was being suspended.’

The president knows that raising taxes will not fix the looming fiscal catastrophe. Only, cutting spending will save America. But Obama has no intention of cutting spending. Neither to Democrats. They don’t care about what our children and grand-children will face.

Obama’s plan won’t put a dent in the deficit. It won’t put a dent in the debt.
The Dallas news reported:

The president says raising tax rates would help solve our long-term debt problem, but it’s hard to take this argument seriously, for two reasons.
First: According to the president’s own Treasury Department, the tax increases he is advocating would generate $85 billion in new revenue next year. By comparison, the monthly budget deficit in October was about $120 billion, and the total deficit for fiscal year 2012 was roughly $1.1 trillion.
In other words, the proposed tax hikes would still leave us with a trillion-dollar deficit. Meanwhile, they would do significant damage to our fragile economic recovery.
Simply put: We cannot tax our way back to budget surpluses and economic prosperity. Without major spending cuts and entitlement reforms, we will continue running huge deficits, regardless of what we do on the revenue side.

First of all, how is someone like Susan Rice worth between $23.5 and $43.5 million? If the media did their jobs, maybe we’d know how a UN diplomat could amass so much wealth. Funny how leftists, who hate the rich never utter a word about Susan Rice’s net worth. Not only is Susan Rice worth so much money, but she has significant investments in over a dozen Canadian oil companies. Remember during the campaign how ‘bad’ it was to have investments out of the United States?

 ... According to her most recent personal finance report, covering 2011 and filed in May 2012, Rice and her husband own between $300,002 and $600,000 in TransCanada stock. Those holdings brought them as much as $20,000 in income in 2011. Federal officials are required to disclose the range of an investment rather than the exact amount.

Rice’s husband was born in Canada.

TransCanada isn’t the only Canadian energy company in Rice’s portfolio. She also has investments in pipeline firm Enbridge, utility TransAlta and oil and natural gas companies Encana, Suncor and Cenovus.

About a third of Rice’s personal wealth — an amount as high as $43.5 million — is invested in Canadian energy interests, according to On Earth.

Rice has other holdings in Chesapeake Energy, Royal Dutch Shell, Devon Energy, Iberdrola, ATP Oil & Gas Corp. and Rio Tinto Limited.

... According to the Office of Government Ethics, federal officials holding significant amounts of stock conflicting with their duties must sell the stock, recuse themselves from the decision or set up a qualified trust.

Well, if she sold the conflicting investments and threw her assets into a blind trust, that would solve the problem, right? Wrong -- or so claim the enviro-zealots:

“It’s really amazing that they’re considering someone for secretary of State who has millions invested in these companies,” Bill McKibben told On Earth.

“[Keystone XL] would be one of the first decisions she would make, and she’s not qualified to make an unbiased decision,” said Jane Kleeb, executive director of the anti-pipeline group Bold Nebraska.

As stated earlier, this is way too convenient. The information which forms the basis for the story is at least three months old; the personal financial disclosure form involved had its final sign-off on August 17. Rice's nomination has been a known Obama administration agenda item for almost three weeks. And now it "just so happens" that an enviro blog discovers this supposedly damning information right after four different Republican Senators, including flaming moderate Susan Collins of Maine, have expressed grave reservations after private discussions with her, and the Politico's Guillen is right there just an hour later. Can you say "coordinated attack"?

One more thing: As anyone who has followed sports would know, the surest sign that a coach or manager is in serious trouble is when the owner or general manager issues a "vote of confidence." Obama did that earlier this afternoon ("OBAMA CALLS EMBATTLED AMBASSADOR 'EXTRAORDINARY'").

A Rice withdrawal from consideration now based on the "new" information which is really old also has the added "benefit" of occurring without anyone being able to credit Republicans for having stopped her potential nomination.

Susan Rice's potential nomination to be Secretary of State would appear to be on life support at best.

Poll: Americans Who Believe Economy Will Worsen Jumps 27 Points Since Obama Reelected

Half the country now believes the economy will be worse off in one year, a 27-point increase since President Barack Obama’s reelection, according to Rasmussen Reports.

In a poll released last week, Rasmussen found that 50 percent of American adults think the U.S.  economy will be weaker in a year’s time.  In October, only 23 percent felt the same way.

“The increase in pessimism comes from Republicans and those not affiliated with either major political party,” Rasmussen said.  “Just before President Obama was reelected, Republicans were evenly divided as to whether the economy would be better or worse a year from now. Today, only 11 percent of Republicans believe the economy will be stronger in a year.  An overwhelming 74 percent in the GOP believe it will be worse.”

More independents also hold negative views about the economy since Obama’s reelection, rising 31 points from 19 percent to 50 percent who now believe the economy will be weaker.

A majority of Democrats, however, still expect the economy to be stronger by next year, remaining virtually unchanged at 60 percent. (Of course they do)
Rasmussen surveyed 2,000 adults between Nov. 15 and 19 to reach their findings.

Convicted Former Rep To Seek Jesse Jackson, Jr’s Seat

Well, isn’t this just fitting? A convicted sex offender who previously resigned from congress is going to seek the seat left vacant by Jesse Jackson, Jr.

Disgraced former U.S. Rep. Mel Reynolds said he will ask voters to focus on his congressional experience rather than his state and federal criminal record as he announced his bid today for the seat held by Jesse Jackson Jr., who has resigned.
At a downtown hotel news conference, Reynolds acknowledged having made “mistakes” in the past. For his campaign, he will try to assume the mantle of an incumbent while also seeking redemption from voters. Red and white campaign signs urged voters to “re-elect” Reynolds “so he can finish the work” while another stark red sign with white letters said simply: “Redemption.”
Reynolds held the 2nd Congressional District seat from 1993 until October 1995, when a Cook County jury convicted him of several sex-related charges, including having sex with an underage volunteer campaign worker. While serving time in state prison, Reynolds also was convicted on federal financial and campaign fraud charges. President Bill Clinton commuted Reynolds’ sentence to time served in 2001.
Under law, Reynolds, formerly a South Side resident who is now renting in Dolton, no longer has to register as a sex offender.
Reynolds sought to downplay his previous convictions, contending “it was almost 18, 20 years ago” and that his past crimes “shouldn’t be a life sentence.”
“The fact of the matter is, nobody’s perfect,” Reynolds said, adding that voters should “look at the entire history of me,” including what people do “after they make mistakes.” Reynolds, however, stopped short of acknowledging guilt for any of his crimes.

Though Reynolds sought to focus on his experience in Congress, where he served on the powerful House Ways and Means Committee, his entry into the contest was yet another sorry reminder of the congressional representation that voters on the South Side and south suburbs have had with their last three representatives.
Reynolds replaced Gus Savage, a controversial and outspoken congressman who was condemned by the House Ethics Committee amid allegations of sexual misconduct involving a Peace Corps volunteer while he was on an official congressional visit to Zaire.
After Reynolds resigned, Jackson won a special election in 1995 to succeed him. But after 17 years, Jackson stepped down last week amid federal ethics investigations and a diagnosis of bipolar depression.
Unlike his failed 2004 primary bid against Jackson, in which Reynolds lost by an 89 percent to 6 percent margin, Reynolds was not joined this time in his announcement by his wife, Marisol. The two have had a history of marital problems. As he spoke about raising his children almost like a single parent, Reynolds said he was not divorced but wanted to leave questions about his wife out of the campaign.
Reynolds said he is self-employed as a financial consultant who acts as a broker between African investors and U.S. companies. But if there was a symbol that he misses Congress, despite his short tenure there, it was the shining black GMC SUV parked outside his news conference with retired congressional license plates that read “MR.”

Voters will be happy to know that Reynolds no longer has to register as a sex offender, so he should be good to go!

On Monday, TheBlaze alerted readers to a new painting that depicts Barack Obama as Jesus Christ
crucified, adorned with a crown of thorns. The work, entitled “Truth,” is part of a larger exhibit at the Bunker Hill Community College Art Gallery in Boston titled “Artists on the Stump – the Road to the White House 2012.” This, of course, is not the first controversial rendition that has been labeled “artwork,” nor is it the first time President Obama has been likened to Christ, or in general, God.

Now, the creator of “Truth,” Michael D’Antuono, said that his “First Amendment rights should override someone’s hurt feelings” and that “we should celebrate the fact that we live in a country where we are given the freedom to express ourselves.”

After receiving roughly 4,000 angry emails over the painting, D’Antuono also said he respects “their right to express themselves” and hopes they will afford him the same.

With this in mind, Glenn Beck chose to “express himself,” during his Tuesday evening broadcast by featuring a piece of artwork of his own creation.

 ”Neither I nor anyone else in the administration intended to mislead the American people at any stage in this process, and the administration updated Congress and the American people as our assessments evolved,”…

Based on today’s coversation, Senator Kelly Ayote vows to block any attempt at making this LIAR an international representative for the United States beyond her current position of U.S Liar To The U.N., until she and the administration “come clean”.

Senator Ayotte: I’m more troubled today… It’s certainly clear from the beginning that we knew that those with ties to Al-Qaeda were involved in the attack on the embassy. And, clearly the impression that was given, the information given to the American people was wrong and in fact Ambassador Rice said today that Absolutely it was wrong… They have not cleared this up with the American people to date.
“There will be a hold” until the Obama administration fully answers lingering questions surrounding the Sept. 11 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Ayotte told a group of reporters Tuesday afternoon during a conference organized by the Foreign Policy Initiative (FPI).
“My view is we should hold on this until we get sufficient information from the administration because there are questions that need to be answered,” she said.
A “hold” is a parliamentary rule that allows any senator to delay action in the Senate.

Jay Carney Says Obama Meeting With Congressional Leaders Is A Waste Of Time

Instead of meeting with congressional leadership from both sides of the aisle to work out a true compromise on the fiscal cliff, President Obama is out campaigning. On our dime. White House spokesman Jay Carney defended his boss, implying that actually being a leader on the issue would be a waste of time. 

“Wouldn’t it send a signal to the American people and to markets to see the president meeting here with Congressional leadership?” Bloomberg reporter Julianna Goldman asked Carney. “That would be a signal that Washington can function.”
“The signal that Washington can function is the result,” Carney replied. “Only inside the Beltway do people think that sitting in a room for a photo spray will solve necessarily problems. The work has to be done and that work is being done.”

What work is he talking about? Getting people to make You Tube videos, or traveling around giving campaign speeches? He couldn’t get more arrogant if he tried. All other presidents have worked with Congress to get things done, but not this one. Letting Nancy Pelosi and her pals write Obamacare doesn’t count. He didn’t work with anyone, he just passed it off to his lackeys.

Oh, and yesterday Carney referred to the fiscal cliff as “fun.” Remember that when the economy gets even worse. For Obama and his peeps in the White House this is all just fun and games.
“It would ruin the fun if I gave you all the details now,” Carney said.
