MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell Mocks the Bible & Urges Obama to Exclude it From the Inauguration

Atheist activists aren’t the only ones looking to nix the Bible and references to God from President Barack Obama’s inauguration. MSNBC’s Lawrence O’Donnell also took aim at the holy book today, dismissing its purportedly heinous contents and urging the president not to include it in his Jan. 21 inaugural ceremony.

After discussing Pastor Louie Giglio’s recent decision to remove himself from Obama’s choice of benediction speakers, O’Donnell launched into a tirade against the Bible and its presence at the historical event. In addition to defending the gay rights movement against Giglio’s nearly-20-year-old sermon, the MSNBC host dismissed the Bible as an antiquated book that virtually nobody can agree with in its entirety.

“No one accepts all of the teachings of the Bible — no one,” O’Donnell proclaimed. “There are no literal followers of the word of God as presented in the Bible left on earth. If there were any, they would have to be burning people at the stake all day, every day.”

The host noted his belief that the Bible mandates that prostitutes be burned at the stake and that those who commit adultery and fail to keep the Sabbath also deserve death.

“The Bible has more death penalties in it than Texas law,” he added, urging Obama to simply put his hand on one of his daughter’s shoulders, rather than on a Bible, when he takes the oath (Obama is actually planning to place his hand on two Bibles — one that was owned by Martin Luther King Jr. and another by Lincoln).

On the subject of slavery, O’Donnell framed the Bible as a book that condoned the horror that Michelle Obama, as a descendent of slaves, would have been forced to endure:

MSNBC Hates Black Conservatives

MSNBC is arguably the most race obsessed cable news network on television and they beat a single drum constantly. In their narrow view, all white conservatives are racists, the Tea Party is a terrorist organization and the Republican Party is as white as the snows of January.
This leads me to wonder why MSNBC also does everything it can to demonize black conservatives.
When Tim Scott was appointed to the US Senate by South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley, MSNBC hosts wasted no time insulting him as a product of Republican Affirmative Action.
Today, Ken Shepherd of News Busters pointed to a report on MSNBC in which a contributor on the Martin Bashir show called black conservatives a danger to minorities…

“I am much less concerned about the look of the Cabinet than I am the shape of this president’s policies. I think that it’s important to add that presidents like George Walker Bush, you know, had people like [Labor Secretary Elaine] Chao and [Commerce Secretary Carlos] Gutierrez and [Secretary of State Condoleezza] Rice and [HUD Secretary Alphonso] Jackson and [Education Secretary Rod] Paige in his Cabinet, all cultural minorities and women alike, but all very, very dangerous to diverse communities,” Taylor insisted. This isn’t the first time Taylor has taken to MSNBC to excoriate a conservative who happens to be a member of a racial minority as self-loathing.

Finally, watch MSNBC’s Harris Perry somehow justifying Obama’s lily-white-male nomination picks by saying Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas doesn’t represent black people.

It was a textbook thumping– Ben Shapiro was on with Piers Morgan Thursday to discuss his new book “Bullies: How the Left’s Culture of Fear and Intimidation Silences America” and talk gun control. Right from the start of the interview Ben dominated the anti-gun bully – calling him a bully. And, it was all downhill for Piers for the next 13 minutes. For some reason Piers would not answer Ben’s questions,

“If you are so concerned about gun deaths then why won’t you ban handguns? Don’t you care about the children in Chicago?”

The brains at MSNBC held a discussion tonight on whether or not it is disrespectful to call Obama, Obama?

On Friday, MSNBC’s The Cycle investigated the outrage directed at cohost Steve Kornacki, as well as other journalists, for referring to President Barack Obama simply as “Obama” after the first reference. Seriously and without irony, this happened. And the hosts of The Cycle performed this auspicious duty without screaming obscenities or throwing objects into the cameras. It is a feat that I doubt I could replicate.

Kornacki says he was inundated by angry emails and tweets from the president’s supporters after he referred to Obama on the second reference as simply “Obama.”

Rather than dismiss this nonsensical and embarrassing zealotry off hand, he engaged his detractors in a reasoned way. He explained writing style, and how reporters and opinion writers – including those at the New York Times – will most often only use formal titles in the first reference to an individual. Thereafter, the person is most often simply referred to only by their last name.
