After a status quo election, American politics seems fairly stable – two relatively equal parties are jockeying for position. Nevertheless, James Piereson, a Manhattan senior fellow at American University, sees President Barack Obama as “a figure from a dying era.” The bureaucratic state, he says, teeters on the edge of collapse.

Monday night, Piereson told a brief story of America – past, present, and future – to a crowd of about 80 concerned citizens at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI), in Washington, D.C. as part of a lecture explaining why he believes that American’s next revolution is just around the corner. In order to predict the future, we must first learn from the past, he argued.

Panetta denies Medal of Honor for Marine who dived on grenade

Defense Secretary Leon E. Panetta has denied the Navy’s request to give Sgt. Rafael Peralta the Medal of Honor, with the Pentagon telling the Marine hero’s family they were reluctant to overturn a previous secretary’s decision.


Peralta died in Fallujah, Iraq, in 2004 while smothering a grenade, saving the lives of the other marines in his squad. Those Marines said Peralta, who’d been shot in the head, scooped the grenade into himself to absorb the blast.

Calif. Student Sues School After Allegedly Being Suspended for His Politics (And He Has Some Noteworthy Video Evidence)

A California conservative at Fresno State University is suing his school after allegedly being put on disciplinary probation because of his politics.
The school’s leadership– particularly University President John Welty– is reportedly outspoken in its support for liberal policies like the DREAM Act.  The school’s newspaper took things so far last May that they published a poem that begins: “America, the land robbed by the white savage.”
Neil O’Brien is active in student government, and has made no secret about his opposition to the DREAM Act.  He decided to ask the professors in the Chicano and Latin American Studies Department– at least one of whom seems to be a faculty advisor for the paper– what they thought of the poem.
Fox News has more on what happened next:

When O’Brien approached the professors separately in their offices, the same thing happened in each case: they said they didn’t want to talk with him. Openly recording the encounters on a video camera, O’Brien  told them he just wanted to ask questions. They again told him to leave, and closed their doors.
What happened next is what got O’Brien in trouble: The professors called the police. According to police reports, the professors said that O’Brien had been “threatening” and “harassing” them. Police took O’Brien in for questioning, but decided not to file charges after watching video he took of the incident (which O’Brien has posted online here.)

I guess today was just another day in the Age of Obama.
The MSM was completely silent today, after leftist union thugs repeatedly punched and threatened the life of an innocent person who was trying to defend other innocent people. I’m sure they would have ignored the story if someone on the right, say a Tea Party person had punched a peaceful protester.
The leftists at Gawker yawned over the story.
One newspaper wrote about the “mostly peaceful” protest.
One left wing blog tried to re-write the story completely.

After yesterday’s incident in which labor union activists tore down an Americans for Prosperity tent in Lansing and sucker-punched Stephen Crowder, this headline zoomed up the Memorandum aggregation:

Huh? This was a decidedly odd piece of blogging: The claim that somehow the union thug clobbering Crowder was part of a right-wing hoax, based on such “evidence” as the event having been reported by “James O’Keefe’s buddy” Lee Stranahan — because, hey, if anybody at Breitbart thinks it’s actually news, that means it must be phony, right?
Also, the video was edited. Anybody who edits a video is obviously engaged in some kind of evil conspiracy.
What the hell is this silly gibberish? Are these people crazy?
No, they’re engaged in a systematic effort to create confusion and discourage mainstream journalists from reporting on the incident.
“Accuse the accusers!” Re-arrange the narrative of events so that a story that obviously makes the Left look bad is, instead, a story about the Right unjustly trying to make the Left look bad.

The MSM must be replaced.
I don’t know how we get there but it needs to happen.

Son of thug Democrat Rep. Jim Moran pleads guilty to assaulting girlfriend

The rotten apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. Patrick Moran, son of corruptocrat Rep. Jim Moran (D-Va.), last made headlines when investigative journalist James O’Keefe caught him on tape in a voter fraud/forgery scam.

He’s in the news again today…for his guilty plea on assault charges involving his girlfriend.
Left-wing Washington City Paper has the scoop:

Moran and his girlfriend were fighting outside 14th St. bar The Getaway around 1:23 a.m. on Dec. 1, according to a police report, over Moran talking to another woman at the bar. Suddenly, Moran allegedly slammed his girlfriend’s head into the bar’s metal trash can cage.
After the attack, police described Moran’s girlfriend as “bleeding heavily from her nose and also observed that her nose and right eye were extremely swollen.” One of the ambulance technicians who transported her to Howard University Hospital told police that Moran appeared to have broken her nose and given her a skull fracture under her right eye.

He got a slap on the wrist: Probation.
