'ASTOUNDING' Government spent over $1.028 trillion on welfare in FY 2011

The government spent approximately $1.03 trillion on 83 means-tested federal welfare programs in fiscal year 2011 alone — a price tag that makes welfare that year the government’s largest expenditure, according to new data released by the Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee.
The total sum taxpayers spent on federal welfare programs was derived from a new Congressional Research Service (CRS) report on federal welfare spending — which topped out at $745.84 billion for fiscal year 2011 — combined with an analysis from the Republican Senate Budget Committee staff of state spending on federal welfare programs (based on “The Oxford Handbook of State and Local Government Finance”), which reached $282.7 billion in fiscal year 2011.

The data excludes spending on Social Security, Medicare, means-tested health care for veterans without service-connected disabilities, and the means-tested veterans pension program.

USDA suggests food stamp parties, games to increase participation

While spending on the food stamp program has increased 100 percent under President Barack Obama, the government continues to push more Americans to enroll in the welfare program.
The United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) has embraced entire promotional campaigns designed to encourage eligible Americans to participate in the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), or food stamps.
A pamphlet currently posted at the USDA website encourages local SNAP offices to throw parties as one way to get potentially eligible seniors to enroll in the program.
“Throw a Great Party. Host social events where people mix and mingle,” the agency advises. “Make it fun by having activities, games, food, and entertainment, and provide information about SNAP. Putting SNAP information in a game format like BINGO, crossword puzzles, or even a ‘true/false’ quiz is fun and helps get your message across in a memorable way.”

The support for voter ID in the United States remains strong, but it is clear that Democrats, who are gullible enough to buy into expletive-laden videos like Sarah Silverman’s or faux comedy video’s like Rainn Wilson’s, are more convinced that illegal voting should be here to stay.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 71% of voters think voters should be required to show ID before they vote. 66% of likely U.S. voters believe voter fraud is a serious problem, and 33% say it is a very serious problem.

Mexican attorney general: “Obama more involved in Fast & Furious than admitted!”

Mexico's Attorney General Morales, the first woman to hold that office, believes Obama knows more about guns smuggled into Mexico than he's admitting.
Mexico’s Attorney General Morales, the first woman to hold that office, believes Obama knows more about guns smuggled into Mexico than he’s admitting.

President Barack Obama appears to be getting it from all sides regarding a government snafu dubbed Operation Fast and Furious. Besides both houses of the U.S. Congress and a number of public-interest groups investigating what is being characterized as a rogue federal law enforcement operation, Mexico’s attorney general is infuriated over the allegations that the U.S. was behind the smuggling of weapons into Mexico that ended up killing her countrymen.

In a statement released by Mexican Attorney General Marisela Morales, she called Operation Fast and Furious “an attack on Mexicans’ security.”

Morales told Mexican reporters that she is demanding a full and honest explanation from the United States government especially since evidence is being gathered that reveals the Obama administration was more involved in Operation Fast and Furious than top officials admitted in their sworn statements.

If what is being reported is true, U.S. Attorney General and other government officials may have committed perjury and/or obstruction of justice if it’s proven they lied when testifying before House and Senate committees.

Operation Fast and Furious was a botched Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives covert operation initiated in order to track more than 2,000 smuggled guns to Mexican drug cartels by allowing gang members to purchase them illegally from U.S. gun stores then take them back to their leaders.

However, according to Congressional reports by both Rep. Darryl Issa (R-CA) and Senator Charles Grassley (R-NE), the federal agency lost track of many of the guns. Some later were traced to murders of police and civilians in Mexico and the killing of a U.S. Border Patrol Agent, Brian Terry.

There is also mounting evidence that the Cartel members obtained other weapons including grenades and brought them back to Mexico with the full knowledge of the ATF and the U.S. Justice Department.

President Obama said in June he would discipline the Fast and Furious organizers once the investigation is completed. He then stated that the Fast and Furious fiasco was never approved by his Justice Department officials.

However, reports from several sources including the non-governmental agency Judicial Watch, Fox News Channel and The Examiner strongly suggest there indeed high-level government involvement.

According to Fox News, documents obtained by their news staff revealed that the ATF agents involved actually sold some of the guns to gang members. They allegedly purchased the guns with taxpayer money.

Meanwhile Mexico’s Attorney General claims she learned about the operation in the news media rather than being told about it in advance by U.S. government officials, including members of Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s staff.

Morales said that if U.S. federal officials were involved, it would be a “betrayal” of Mexico while its police and military were fighting a war against drug cartels. Tens of thousands of Mexicans have been killed since the “war on drugs” began in 2006. Almost weekly, Mexican authorities are finding mass graves of those murdered by the cartels.

Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA), the House Oversight Committee’s chairman, recently said that it appears the trail of evidence about who authorized Operation Fast and Furious leads back to the White House.

Operation Fast and Furious began in October 2009 with sales from American gun stores to Mexican cartel members. They allegedly spent over $1 million on the firearms. Then in June 2010, ATF picked up the pace of the smuggling by allowing its agents to sell the guns to gang members, according to government documents obtained by Fox News and Judicial Watch.

According to his own testimony, ATF Agent John Dodson was ordered to buy six semi-automatic handguns then sell them to buyers he knew were illegal, the documents say.

Dodson claimed during his House testimony, that he acted on his own, against supervisors’ instructions, to monitor the movement of the guns to a “stash house.” He kept the house under surveillance until a vehicle showed up to pick up the guns for smuggling into Mexico.

Dodson says he called for a team to move in to arrest the smugglers, but his supervisors refused. The guns then disappeared from ATF surveillance.

Groups such as the Second Amendment Foundation believe the operation was “dreamed up to show proof that U.S. guns are contributing to the crime and violence in Mexico,” something that has been alleged by President Obama, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and their supporters in the gun-control lobby.

AN OPEN LETTER TO OUR FELLOW IOWANS
Friends and neighbors:

Obama Campaign Co-Chair Eva Longoria Promotes Vulgar Attack on Romney

This "Housewife" isn't just "Desperate." She's vulgar.

Eva Longoria, one of Hollywood's most ardent supporters of President Barack Obama and a co-chair of the president's reelection campaign, took a dip in the gutter today on Twitter.
She retweeted a gross comment aimed at GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney in the hours after last night's second presidential debate.

 Eva Longoria nasty Tweet
Get used to this. Obama is dropping in the polls, and the two presidential debates have shown the country - sans liberal media filter - what a smart, accomplished leader Romney is.

That wasn't enough for some liberal stars. They had to profess their hate for GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney via social media.

Actor Jared Leto went straight for the jugular with his inane tweet.

CNN Managing Editor Sends Staff Email Defending Crowley

Late this afternoon, TMZ reported a leaked email from CNN Managing Editor Mark Whitaker to the staff of CNN, defending disgraced second presidential debate moderator Candy Crowley. It’s a full-throated list of Barack Obama talking points. Here’s the email:

Candy Crowley’s Debate Moderation Exemplifies Why Americans Do Not Trust Their Media

On Monday, I wrote that it would be wrong to prejudge CNN host Candy Crowley before she turned in her performance as a debate moderator. Just the week prior, ABC reporter Martha Raddatz was preemptively criticized for inviting President Barack Obama to attend her wedding in the 1990s, but she ended up being a straight moderator who advanced the vice presidential debate admirably. I wanted to extend the benefit of the doubt to Crowley, to not preemptively criticize her before she was worthy of criticism. Well, the verdict is in and criticism is entirely warranted.

My singular take away moment of last night’s debate was one that elevated Crowley from moderator to debate participant. Crowley shot from the hip and echoed a talking point from the Obama campaign regarding their handling of the Libya attack to criticize Mitt Romney mid-debate. What’s more? She was wrong. Crowley did her profession a disservice last night and confirmed many Americans deepest suspicions about the media in the process.

Journalists Clapped When Obama Attacked Romney’s Wealth

And now we know why the liberal media was and is so sympathetic to the the Occupy Movement. Because whether they come right out and say it or not, they agree with them. The Democratic Party and the American media has been almost completely taken over by class warfare loving radical leftists and Obama really is the one they were waiting for.
Noah Rothman, the only truthful writer at Mediaite, said today that Candy Crowley’s debate moderation explains why the American people now longer trust the media. He’s right to an extent. The real problem is much bigger. Most of the people in American media are ideologues who want exactly what Obama wants. They think wealth and success is evil. They want Obama to take other people’s money.

Obama Supporters Say He Won The Debate – Four Hours Before The Debate (Funny if not sad)

In the video below, the Jimmy Kimmel Show asks people on the street who won “last night’s” presidential debate?
Mind you, the question was asked four hours before the debate even started.

This should surprise no one. It shows what the media’s plan was all along.

Fox News Matches Record Ratings With Debate Coverage, Rivaling Palin-Biden in 2008

FNC locks down another win as viewership rises across cable, and MSNBC falls below CNN again.

Early ratings for cable network coverage of Tuesday's presidential debate have numbers surging ahead of the first showdown between President Obama and Mitt Romney earlier this month -- and Fox News Channel is reaping the biggest benefits.
Nielsen figures have FNC's telecast of the town hall debate matching its highest ratings ever (Sarah Palin and Joe Biden's 2008 vice presidential debate) with 11.1 million viewers. On par with that record, FNC also scored a demo win with 3.46 million adults 25-54. Though its returns are shy of broadcast competition in NBC and ABC, it also topped CBS.
CNN and MSNBC once again switched ranking for the debate. After CNN took the first debate in both viewers and the demo, and MSNBC reclaimed its runner-up status with last week's veep showdown, CNN was once again in second place with 5.77 million viewers and 2.58 million in the demo. MSNBC had 4.88 million total viewers and 1.9 million in adults 25-54.
