The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left. -- Ecclesiastes 10:2 (NIV)

When the people fear their government, there is tyranny; when the government fears the people, there is liberty. Thomas Jefferson

Why We Lost the Republic

As long as the left has controlled the schools, time has always been on their side.  We lost the Republic in the classroom long before we lost it in the voting booth.

With reports of voting irregularities in several battleground states, we might never know who actually won the 2012 election, but we do know for sure that it is Barack Obama who will occupy the White House for the next four years.  And now we will find out if countless patriots at Tea Party rallies around the country were on to something when they voiced the fear that America will not survive four more years of Barack Obama.
For those mainstream Americans who were alarmed enough at the radicalism of the Obama agenda to get involved in politics for the first time in their lives, the fear that America will not survive more of Obama's agenda was never just political hyperbole.  The fear was grounded in evidence that Obama is an Alinsky-style radical who holds the Constitution in contempt, that he is hostile to those who succeed in the private sector, that he believes that a weaker America will make the world a better place, and that he will use any means necessary to transform America as it suits him.

But with a record that should have made a second term nearly impossible, conservatives should be asking ourselves how the Obama camp got close enough to a majority vote to win the election -- if they indeed won it -- or even to steal it, if that is what really happened.

One conventional answer is that most of the news media were in the tank for Obama, that they kept the lid on scandals like the deadly Benghazi fiasco and the subsequent White House cover-up, and that they got their talking points from the White House.  True though that answer may be, it leaves unanswered a more fundamental question: why would the electorate tolerate such partisan bias from the news media, let alone allow it to influence their votes?

Another conventional answer is that this election occurred at a political tipping point at which almost half of the people voting in the election pay no federal taxes, and that many in this group were likely to vote for Obama regardless of his record.  Granted, there is truth in the idea that a condition of moral hazard exists when people can vote for more government without having to pay for it.  But again, the deeper question should be how the American electorate ever allowed such a situation to develop in the first place.

Surely an educated and informed electorate would recognize and reject liberal bias in the media and would never allow our government to be turned into little more than a vending machine that dispenses favors in return for votes.  Educated and informed voters would see through the hollow, sweet rhetoric of the left to the tyrannical core just beneath the surface.  And there is the painful answer to how so many citizens of a republic just voted to become subjects of a government.

Conservatives have long bemoaned liberal dominance in education from the universities on down, but we haven't done anything about it.  Marxist intellectuals realized decades ago that the eventual victory of socialism would be assured if leftists dominated the educational system and used their influence to push a leftist worldview.  The power of their "long march" through the cultural institutions was that it was not necessary for students to consciously convert to socialist thinking; generation after generation would simply be gradually immersed in the assumptions and dogmas of the left.

Now, after years of patient effort, the teachers' unions have turned America's schools into a wholly owned subsidiary of the political left.  Conservatives have complained when reports surfaced about students being taught to sing hymns of praise to Obama, or when conservative students were harassed in class, or when examples of blatant liberal bias in textbooks came to light, but somehow we allowed ourselves to write off public schools as a lost cause.  Homeschooling and private schools gave some relief, but the idea of getting public schools to transmit a love of liberty and appreciation for free enterprise seemed hopeless.

Besides, conservatives did win occasional victories at the polls, so the republic that our founders left us still seemed capable of self-correction.  But even when conservatives won elections, the people who lost those elections taught our children the next day.  Our children learned that Reagan's tax cuts increased the deficit, but they never heard that those tax cuts stimulated the economy and doubled revenue.  The idea that those deficits came from excessive spending was not even on the table.

So even if it had been Romney taking the oath of office in January, our children would have learned about his policies from the people who voted against those policies.  Our children -- and our future voters -- would have heard the shallow mantras of "tax cuts for the rich" and paying for bombs instead of schools, and many would have absorbed the rhetoric without questioning it.

As long as the left has controlled the schools, time has always been on their side.  We lost the Republic in the classroom long before we lost it in the voting booth.

Benghazi Investigation Can Continue Free of Election Baggage

Now that the election is behind us, it's time for a serious investigation into what did and didn't take place in Benghazi: an investigation that seeks clear, on-the-record answers to some very important questions.

Questions like:
1. What did Obama know and do (and not do), and when did he know?
2. When did Sec. of State Hillary Clinton know consulate personnel were in trouble? And what was her first response?
3. After the FBI and National Counterterrorism Center came out on Sept. 13 and labeled the Benghazi attack an act of terrorism, why did CIA director David Petraeus come out on Sept 14 and counter them, attributing the attack to a "spontaneous" uprising as the result of a movie?
4. And speaking of the movie, why was the YouTube film used as part of a concerted cover-up on Benghazi to begin with? Why did Obama, Sec. Clinton, U.N. Ambassador Susan Rice, CIA director Petraeus, and White House Spokesman Jay Carney all tell us the attack was a response to a movie when it was actually terrorism?
5. And who initiated the cover-up? Whose idea was it?
It's time to get beyond writing letters, censuring, and allowing people to say whatever they want to congressional investigators without consequence. We need to launch the Special Congressional Committee Hearing into Benghazi that Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) has requested, and we need to simultaneously launch the inquiry in White House actions, and inactions, during the Benghazi attack, just as the Special Operations Speaks PAC (SOS) requested.
Four Americans are dead, and two of them died while on the roof a the consulate begging for backup that Obama did not send.
With the distorting influence of electoral politics out of the way, Benghazi must be investigated now.

Obama Now Free to 'Be Who He Is'

President Barack Obama will never again have to face voters. Nothing he does will have to be calibrated for how it plays in swing states or with Independent voters. He is now governing solely for his own legacy. This is one reason I so opposed his reelection. Given his left-ward lunge in his first term, I shuddered to think where he would go in his second. An article today in Obama fan-zine Buzzfeed confirms my fears.

“I’m hopeful,” said Slama. “He’ll try to play to the middle, but he’s got the Tea Party to deal with, and he can take out his baseball bat and wail away and he won't have to worry about the implications of reelection.”
With the election of progressive Elizabeth Warren in Massachusetts and Tammy Baldwin in Wisconsin, Obama’s longtime backers feel the liberal spirit inside the president could be unleashed: climate change, gun control, and immigration reform perhaps heading to the top of the agenda. (After, that is, the “fiscal cliff.”)
So, now we're going to get the "baseball bat"? The sentiment in this article rings completely true to me. On a hot mic, Obama was overheard asking Russian President Medvedev for "flexibility" until after the election. There was rampant speculation about what exactly Obama meant by the plea. We're about to find out.
To those 50% of American voters who opted to reelection President Obama, I say thank you. We're about to witness what a truly progressive Administration, unafraid of reelection, looks like. Perhaps the full display of that will shake Americans out of their obsessive worries about birth control and abortion.
The "moderate" era of Obama is over. The progressive era begins today. I pray we survive it.

Obama Supporters Celebrate: No More Israel! Kill Those Motherf***ers

Rebel Pundit: Obama supporters out celebrating his win on election night gathered on State Street Tuesday evening. I asked one man why he was celebrating Obama, and what that meant to him. He said, “It really means to me, no more Israel…Mitt Romney would go to war with Iran…Obama said f*** that shit. Kill those mother f***ers.”

Another said, “Palestine was there first, and Israel moved in in the 1940s and that’s an unfair attack.” A man of Jewish heritage accompanying him said, “I really do not think that us being with Israel is a good choice for us”:

One man felt that Obama could act as a peacemaker through negotiations: “He needs to get Israel and he needs to get Iran down at the table and say, ‘Iran, what do you need, how can we compromise, don’t close off the freaking strait of Hormuz’…he’s going to be that angel of peace between them.”

Hours After Obama Victory – Administration Backs UN Arms Treaty

Iran was named to the group overseeing the U.N. Arms Treaty Conference earlier this year. (Stand Up America)
Less than a day after Obama’s election, the US backed a UN treaty to regulate arms.
Obama delayed the talks during election season.
Reuters reported:
Hours after U.S. President Barack Obama was re-elected, the United States backed a U.N. committee’s call on Wednesday to renew debate over a draft international treaty to regulate the $70 billion global conventional arms trade.
U.N. delegates and gun control activists have complained that talks collapsed in July largely because Obama feared attacks from Republican rival Mitt Romney if his administration was seen as supporting the pact, a charge Washington denies.
The month-long talks at U.N. headquarters broke off after the United States – along with Russia and other major arms producers – said it had problems with the draft treaty and asked for more time.
But the U.N. General Assembly’s disarmament committee moved quickly after Obama’s win to approve a resolution calling for a new round of talks March 18-28. It passed with 157 votes in favor, none against and 18 abstentions.
U.N. diplomats said the vote had been expected before Tuesday’s U.S. presidential election but was delayed due to Superstorm Sandy, which caused a three-day closure of the United Nations last week.
The Obama Administration insists they will not accept any treaty that infringes on the constitutional rights of American citizens.

Va. store owner closes for day to mourn election outcome

The owner of a jewelry store in Virginia has riled up residents in his community by shutting down his store for a day to “mourn” the re-election of President Barack Obama.
“Closed to mourn the loss of the America that our forefathers endowed to us,” a large handwritten sign read in the window of Lyons Jewelers in Bedford, Va on Wednesday, the day after Americans voted to give Obama another four years in the White House.
R.T. Lyons gave employees the day off with pay on Wednesday but angered some customers in the process, according to WDBJ-TV, a CBS affiliate in Roanoke, Va.
“I will not be a customer again with this company,” Willie Thornhill, a 13-year customer of the store told WDBJ.

But another customer was pleased. “I think it speaks the truth,” said Amanda Gordon.
Other signs were placed in the window of the small business, including one vowing to open again Thursday to “continue the fight against a president who seeks my demise.”

Kremlin Cheers Obama Victory – Looks Forward to His “Flexibility”

In March Obama secretly promised the Russian regime that he would have more flexibility after the election.

The Russian leaders cheered Obama’s victory last night.
They look forward to his new flexibility.
ABC News reported:
Russian President Vladimir Putin has sent a congratulatory note to President Obama after his re-election Tuesday, his spokesman said. The Kremlin says it will make the text public after the Americans have received it.
Putin is also expected to call Obama personally “in the near future.”
“In general, the Kremlin took the news about Barack Obama’s victory in the elections very positively,” spokesman Dmitri Peskov said, according to the Interfax news agency.
“We have the hope that positive initiatives in bilateral relations and in Russian-U.S. interaction on the international arena in the interests of international security and stability will be developed and improved,” he added.
It is perhaps not surprising that the Kremlin is pleased with the outcome of the election, especially since President Obama told then-President Dmitri Medvedev earlier this year that he would have more flexibility after the election to negotiate NATO plans to place components of a missile-defense shield in Eastern Europe.
Russia has expressed concerns that the system is aimed at them, although the United States and NATO insist it is designed to counter an Iranian attack.

Domestic Bomber Bill Ayers: Dear President Obama, Congratulations

Many well-wishers sent congratulatory messages to President Obama including his pal and former neighbor terrorist Bill Ayers.
EAGNews reported:
Among the well-wishers for President Obama’s triumphant re-election is Chicago pal and domestic terrorist-turned-professor Bill Ayers.
Writing on the website good.is, Ayers writes:
“Dear President Obama: Congratulations!
“I’m sure this is a moment you want to savor, a time to take a deep breath, get some rest, hydrate, regain your balance, and take a long walk in the sunshine. It might be as well a good time to reflect, rethink, recharge, and perhaps reignite. I sincerely hope that it is, and I urge you to put education on your reflective agenda.”
While Ayers has in the past joked that Obama launched his political career in Ayers’ house, he has been dismayed over Obama’s appointment of Arne Duncan as Secretary of Education and the administration’s use of mild “corporate” reforms that involve competition and accountability.
Of course, the one time the liberal media asked Barack Obama about his association with Bill Ayers in 2008, he said Ayers was “just another guy in the neighborhood.” This was despite the fact that they were well aquainted and shared an office in Chicago.
