Liberal NAACP: We’re Still Willing To Work With Donald Sterling If He Forks Over Money…

 The NAACP said today they are still willing to work with Los Angeles Clippers’ owner Donald Sterling despite yanking an offer of a lifetime achievement award over an audio tape containing racist comments that Sterling allegedly made.
At a news conference today, NAACP Los Angeles president Leon Jenkins said that an audio recording that surfaced this weekend on TMZ, which purportedly had Sterling’s voice recorded making racist comments, was “devastating.”
But the organization would be open to talking to Sterling, with whom they’ve worked for nearly 20 years.
“God teaches us to forgive, and the way I look at it, after a sustained period of proof to the African American community that those words don’t reflect his heart, I think there’s room for forgiveness. I wouldn’t be a Christian if I said there wasn’t,” Jenkins said.
“We are negotiating with him about giving more moneys to African American students at UCLA, and so we are in preliminary discussions,” Jenkins said.

U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry released a statement in “support for Israel” Monday night, after a day of high-profile controversy surrounding his weekend warning that Israel may become an “apartheid state” if Israeli-Palestinian peace talks fall through.
” I have been around long enough to also know the power of words to create a misimpression, even when unintentional, and if I could rewind the tape, I would have chosen a different word to describe my firm belief that the only way in the long term to have a Jewish state and two nations and two peoples living side by side in peace and security is through a two state solution,” Kerry said in the statement.
Kerry’s original comment, made at a closed-door meeting of the Trilateral Commission last Friday, spawned a wave of denouncement Monday from various U.S. politicians, along with Jewish leaders and groups. Republican House Majority Leader Eric Cantor called on Kerry to apologize, and Sen. Ted Cruz, the freshman Republican from Texas, said Kerry should resign.
His “apartheid” comment broke a longstanding taboo of American officials on using the loaded term to describe Israel — then-Sen. Barack Obama denounced using the term in a 2008 interview. Kerry is believed to be the most-senior U.S. official to have ever used it.

Clinton said she struggled as a young woman between her father’s insistence on self-reliance and her mother’s concern for compassion. She reconciled those in the Biblical story of Jesus instructing his disciples to feed 5,000 people with just five loaves of bread and two fish.
It was a personal speech from a woman considered the front-runner for the 2016 Democratic nomination for president. And while the speech mostly steered clear of politics, she made the case on moral grounds for increasing the minimum wage and equalizing pay for men and women — two issues that have polarized Congress in the run-up to the 2014 midterm elections.
Clinton’s remarks came at the quadrennial United Methodist Women’s Assembly, where 7,000 women gathered for three days of teaching, singing and service. Clinton told the crowd her faith was rooted in her family. She talked about how her father — a self-made, independent man — would “humble himself before God” by her bedside every night. And her grandmother would sing hymns as she braided young Clinton’s hair.

First Lady Michelle Obama is scrapping her plans to deliver a graduation speech for high school seniors in Topeka, Kan., after hundreds signed a petition in protest.
More than 1,750 people had signed a petition protesting the first lady’s appearance at the graduation ceremony, angered that security concerns would limit the number of friends and family who could attend.
According to the Topeka Capital-Journal, students would have only be allotted six tickets apiece had the first lady maintained her original plans.
Instead of delivering a graduation speech, Obama will be at the school the day before graduation, and will deliver remarks at a “Senior Recognition Day.”
The first lady’s address is meant to commemorate the anniversary of the landmark Brown v. Board of Education desegregation ruling.
“The remarks will celebrate the achievements of the graduating class of high school seniors in Topeka, home of the landmark U.S. Supreme Court case, Brown v. Board of Education, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year,” the White House said in a statement.
